Yesterday evening, we headed to North Beach to have dinner with two of George’s friends from work in the Italian District.
This area tends to be VERY lively and busy. On the weekends, finding parking gets crazy!
I think it is so cute that every post along the street has the flag of Italy wrapped around it. So much pride for the country.
I ordered Carpaccio Di Salmone for myself which had thinly sliced raw salmon fillet, olive oil, lemon juice and sweet peppers. When I ordered it, the woman was surprised I just wanted an appetizer for a meal. Little does she know that I do not eat a lot and I really do not like Italian food that much.
Not to say I will never eat it, I just do not go out of my way to visit Italian restaurants (though I do make light Italian dishes at home such as Minestrone Soup).
George ended up ordering Spiedino Di Agnello which was skewered lamb marinated in ginger, rosemary, garlic with roasted potatoes and mixed salad. The guys also added on the Salsiccia Pizza that had mushrooms, Italian sausage, mozzarella and tomato sauce. Both were very good and I appreciate that the pizza was really balanced. Not too much cheese or breading on the pizza. ![[<3]](http://www.aviondepapier.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/e07.gif)
At the end of our meal, we ordered two Tira Misu for our little group to share.
Tira Misu is probably one of my favorite Italian based desserts!
All over all, it was a great experience! The restaurant was very small, but charming and cozy. It is run by two sisters and everyone there is really sweet. Definitely a wonderful evening with good company.
