Our camping trip to the Oceano Dunes (located in the region of Pismo Beach) over the weekend was an AMAZING experience!
We ended up going with George’s co-worker (Lars) and his wife (Kelly) and of course Widget came along as well.
I actually was a little freaked out when we first started driving on the beach.
It is so strange to be driving so close to the ocean! I would see the waves pick up and think we were going to be carried off to sea.
I eventually felt comfortable once I got use to it.
Probably one of the most memorable experiences was going out to the dunes to drive the FJ Cruiser.
I skipped driving and helped George navigate instead. Lars had his Jeep so we had a little team of vehicles to drive through the dunes. There was MILES of dunes, it was an incredible sight to see.
We ended up sleeping in the FJ. George bought a special air mattress for the FJ. It was nice to be able to sleep in the SUV. I like tents too, but being in the FJ added a sense of security – though the beach was perfectly safe, plus no dangerous wildlife aside for pelicans and seagulls.
I am very much looking forward to visiting the Oceano Dunes again!
Hopefully next time we can go with even more friends as well as family.

Hope everyone’s Thursday is moving along well! I am anxious for the week to finish up because we have a fun camping trip planned out for this weekend.
We will be camping on Pismo Beach!
For this beach, you have to have an off-road vehicle to camp so I am glad we have the FJ Cruiser (need to drive on the sand and only certain vehicles are capable of doing this).
I will be sure to take plenty of photos to share.
Courtney Coat by Mango: I really LOVE this coat!
Sadly, it is already sold out, but I am sure I can find it somewhere online. I think what I like most about this coat is the high collar and leather front closures.
Volkswagen Bus iPhone Case: This iPhone case is one of the cutest I have ever seen. Not sure that I am willing to pay that much for one though ($40USD), that and I do not even have a VW.
Lid Sid by Luka Or: I thought this was clever. It is one of those kitchens tools that is entirely for fun seeing it is not that necessary. Not too hard to just prop open a pot lid, but with this you are doing it in a fun way.
Contigo Autoseal Kangaroo Water Bottle with Storage Compartment/a>: I LOVE Contigo products.
They are amazing! I actually have a Contigo stainless steel bottle and it not only seals extremely well, but it keeps drinks hot and cold for hours – no joke. I had left the bottle in my car when it was 80+ degrees outside, 4 hours later, the bottle still had WHOLE ice cubes in it!
This bottle is not stainless steel, but I think it would be great to take to the gym, cycling or use during other activities due to the storage factor. The only thing you have to be careful of is where you put it if you have very important things stored in it.
