I have been searching for a pair of plain black flats seeing my last pair were a looking sad (too worn out).
You would think finding black flats would be simple, but I have a list of wants that define the PERFECT pair which makes things complicated.
After a few weeks of looking around online and in stores I ended up finding a pair of flats from ShoeMint…well sorta. They do not match the whole “plain” look I was going for, but I had a hard time saying no to the cuteness of them.
These shoes have been comfy to wear so far. I hate when some shoes cause blisters because they are too stiff or poorly made.
The flats were originally around $79.98USD, but with a promo they had I got them for $34USD. The only thing I worry about is accidentally kicking something and having one of the bows fall off because of it — being REALLY careful about that.
As much as I love my new shoes, I still would really like a “plain” pair. I have had my eyes on flats at Madewell, but waiting to see if a good deal comes along!

Sunday we braved the crowds during Uniqlo’s 3-day grand opening celebration here in San Francisco. We arrived to the store in good timing, after only a few minutes the line grew BLOCKS long (people passing by were taking photos of the massive line)! We arrived before the store opened expecting craziness.
It looks really peaceful in this photo, but trust me…it was CHAOS in here!
The store has four different levels. On the other side of this photo (4th floor), you cannot see the huge group of women digging tooth and nail to find their $9.50USD jean size.
George and I were part of the first 500 to visit the store on Sunday. We received coupons for free Heattech T-Shirts!
George offered me his coupon so I received two free Heattech shirts of my color choice. These shirts are made of fibers that contain amino acids from whey. They also have antibacterial properties to minimize odors and when the shirts absorb body moisture, they generate heat to keep you warm.
I love Uniqlo leggings!!!
They are so soft, comfortable and made to last. I stocked up on a few different types seeing they were on sale for a great deal.
As I mentioned before, Uniqlo’s skinny jeans were on sale for $9.50USD! Apparently these jeans are only being sold for San Francisco’s grand opening (had not been sold in New York). I lucked out and found two pair in my size. They had a large display for longer lengths and it was full of product! Everyone around me was my height or a tad bit taller.
Sadly, Uniqlo jeans’ smallest length is 32″ which is still too long for me.
They charge $5.00USD however to have jeans hemmed at the store and the hemming is free if you buy jeans priced over $20USD. They were way too busy to get measured for hemming that day so I decided to either come back later (can bring back later if leave the tags on) or do it myself. Wish they carry shorter sizes.
Uniqlo x Orla Kiely dress! I was excited to see Orla collaborated with Uniqlo. They had a lot of different dresses, tops and stoles. You can see the collection here.
Uniqlo was giving out limited edition canvas totes for those who bought $50USD worth of products. We ended up getting two because George & I both spent well over the limit needed. Everything we bought was on sale (the prices were REALLY awesome) so we felt pretty happy when we walked out with two bags full of wardrobe essentials.
